WEBSF Prize Money Ranking update

Gold Waistcoat Tour Overall Winner - Haydon Pinhey 2015-16
Haydon Pinhey – Money Table Leader

After a great season of WEBSF tournament wins Haydon Pinhey has extended his lead at the top of the WEBSF prize money list and in doing so has raised the bar yet again for the most prize money won in a single season. Other players that have improved their position this season include; Dan Legassick, up to fourth place; Mitch Grinsted, up to fifth and Dale Branton, up to seventh place. An even bigger climber is Eddie Manning who moved up twenty places to eighth position in only his second WEBSF season. Andy Symons and Steve Brookshaw have also prospered and have joined the £1000 plus club.

The total amount of prize money made available by the WEBSF since September 2014 is £43,834. 95% of the entry fees taken has been awarded as prize money. The WEBSF Management Team have achieved this high return through dedicated volunteers (Tournament Directors, Helpers, Referee’s) and the generosity of sponsors. This season we thank the following sponsors:  M.J.H. Paving Ltd., Galaxy Centre, Torquay, Jesters,  and 147 Snooker Club, Swindon, The Plaza Snooker & Pool Club, Plymouth and Top Q Snooker Club, Gloucester. All clubs have provided their facilities free of charge!

GOLD IS GOLD COACH
Mike Gold, former professional snooker player and Captain of the England Senior team for four consecutive years is the latest member of the WEBSF Coaching Team. Mike was recently assessed and awarded the WEBSF Gold level coaching certificate. The WEBSF assessor made the following comments in summing up his assessment report.

“Clearly Michael has not only accrued a great deal of knowledge and experience from his many years of playing snooker at all levels, rising from a young aspiring amateur to a professional on the circuit. Michael also benefits from his work experiences; managing a large city snooker club and in latter years as someone in authority that works with the youth full time. Michael has, in an unofficial capacity, coached and mentored players at every level, over a number of years. Established players respect him and contemplate his views and ideals. Add to this a passion for snooker with a real desire to pass on his knowledge and experience to benefit anyone prepared to listen, especially the youth in the region.”

“I believe Michael to be a real asset to any snooker organisation. Despite this Michael does not believe he is the ‘font of all knowledge’, he frequently thinks about the game in some detail, forms opinions based on observations and personal experiences and accepts that there is always something more for him to learn. He is inventive in finding ways to deliver his knowledge and interact with his students in an effective way, always taking into consideration the ability and intellectual capability of his student(s). Michael has many valuable attributes which make him an excellent coach and mentor and will facilitate his continued development. The WEBSF coaching level Gold is constantly under review due to the difficulty in specifying a complete and precise set of criteria against which to assess. The results from this assessment have provided good benchmark requirements which will be used to assess potential coaches in the future.”

The WEBSF congratulate Michael and welcome him into the WEBSF Coaching Team, which now comprises 16 coaches in the region. Michael is currently based in the Exeter Snooker Club where his contact details and Coaching fees can be viewed.
