TOP BREAK FOR STEWART
Report
25th November 2007
The first WEBSF Bronze Waistcoat of the season was held at Redruth Royal British Legion and was won by the reigning Regional Bronze Waistcoat Champion Jake Stewart. Stewart breezed through group A with wins over Jamie Edwards and 10 years old newcomer Brett Broad, who only lost by ten points to the champion. Stewart completed the clean sweep by beating Jamie Edwards.
Group B saw Alexander Wills win both his matches against Aiden Johns, aided with a 20 break, and another new boy Wayne Pellow also just ten years old. In the semi finals Stewart beat Johns and Edwards beat Wills. The final produced a magical break from Stewart; After Stewart went in-off from the break Wills made a swift 24 break to take a 28-0 lead. Stewart came to the table and duly compiled an excellent 77 break missing the green with an excellent chance of a possible 102 clearance in the offering. Stewart has improved considerably since last season which is testimony to hard work and the skills of his coach, Cornish County Champion Steve Downing. Wills beat Johns in the 3rd and 4th place play off and Broad beat Pellow in the plate final. Well done to all players who took part and we look forward to our next Bronze Waistcoat tournament on Sunday 16th December.

STEWART MAKES IT TWO OUT OF TWO

Report
16th December 2007
Jake Stewart won the 2nd Redruth Bronze waistcoat tournament against Alex Wills by 2 frames to 1 in the final. This tournament was hosted by the Clinton Social Club. Wills went 1-0 up with some steady matchplay snooker before Stewart drew level at 1-1 with the help of a 28 break. Stewart got ahead in the decider with some fine potting to beat Wills but not before he was made to sweat by a gallant fight back from Wills, Stewart holding on for a well deserved victory.
In the semi-final Stewart was made to work hard for his 2-1 win over the fast improving Carl Mitchell. Wills defeated Jamie Edwards 2-1 in the other semi final. In the qualifying rounds Stewart beat young Aiden Johns 2-0 whilst Mitchell defeated Wayne Pellow 2-1. Another brave effort from Brett Broad who after going 1-0 up lost 2 pink ball games to lose 1-2 against the eventual runner-up Alex Wills. Jamie Edwards received a bye in the qualifying stages.
In the Plate it finished at one win each for Johns, Pellow and Broad. Broad won by virtue of the highest points tally and a break of 23. Congratulations to all players who took part and special thanks to the Clinton Social Club for the use of their excellent facilities. The next Redruth Bronze will be held at Illogan Highway institute on Sunday 20th or 27th of January 2008 (to be confirmed). If you are under 16 years on December 2007 and would like to participate in this tournament contact Paul Broad or Vic Wills direct or via the WEBSF email websf_uk@yahoo.co.uk

RETALLACK MAKES FINAL IN BRONZE DEBUT
Report
27th January 2008
The 3rd Redruth WEBSF Bronze Waistcoat took place at the Illogan Highway Institute. The story of the day was debutante 15 year old Tom Retallack from St.Keverne who made the final at his first attempt eventually losing to the experienced Jake Stewart who made it a hatrick of wins. Stewart played well throughout the tournament with several breaks 32,30,27,27 & 24 and is looking a good bet to retain his regional bronze crown. All players conducted themselves in a very sporting manor and all gained invaluable match experience. Area WEBSF Coach commented on the high level of safety play on display in many of the matches. The tournament Director for the day was another WEBSF Coach, Vic Wills. Thanks to The Illogan Highway Institute for the use of their excellent facilities.
The next Redruth Bronze will be at The Redruth Royal British Legion on Sunday February 17th 10.15 am start. Any player under 16 interested in playing in this tournament should visit the WEBSF web site http://www.websf.co.uk or email websf_uk@yahoo.co.uk

HOT FAVOURITE STEWART MADE TO SWEAT FOR VICTORY
Report
17th February 2008
At the 4th Bronze Waistcoat event held at the Royal British Legion, Redruth there were excellent individual performances from Aiden Johns and Wayne Pellow that made sure Jake Stewart did not have it all his own way in the group stages. However, Stewart held his nerve and played with composure when it counted to eventually win his fourth consecutive Redruth Bronze event.
Congratulations to Pellow, just 10 years old, who won all three of his group matches beating last months finalist Tom Retallack along the way. This took Pellow to his first semi final where he found Stewart too strong on the day. Also well done to Johns who defeated eventual winner Stewart in the group stage only to lose to the same player in the final. All players turned out looking smart as ever in appearance and conducted themselves in a very sporting manner. Thanks to all the parents for their support on the day.
The next Redruth Bronze will be at The Redruth Royal British Legion on Sunday 30th March 10.15am start. Any player under 16 interested in playing in this tournament should visit the WEBSF web site http://www.websf.co.uk or email websf_uk@yahoo.co.uk

STEWART REDRUTH BRONZE CHAMPION
Report
27th April 2008
Jake Stewart potted well to win his Fifth Bronze Waistcoat. However, he needs to remember to use his B game at times and show patience early on in the frame, says WEBSF Are Coach Paul Broad. Stewart has dominated the Redruth Bronze this season and was presented with a trophy by Paul Broad who would like to see Stewart test himself in the WEBSF Silver Waistcoat next season. In the final Stewart beat the fast improving Alex Wills who played solid snooker throughout to reach the final. In a hard fought match he narrowly defeated ten year old Brett Broad which ended in a black ball game. In the semi finals Stewart beat Aiden Johns, who has excelled in the Bronze this year, to finish runner-up in the final ranking table he also received a trophy. In the other semi final Wills beat Jamie Edwards who never really settled into the game this tournament.
A big thank you to all players who entered the Redruth Bronze this season and also thank you to the Royal British Legion the Clinton Social Club and Illogan Highway institute for providing their facilities and to the parents for their support. We look forward to meeting up with Exeter, Plymouth and the `new boys` from Falmouth at Victoria Snooker Centre on Finals Day.
