WEBSF member Chris Coumbe has recently qualified as a EASB Class 1 Billiards Referee at the IBSF Billiards Championships currently taking place in Leeds. Chris’s assessment took place whilst officiating a match between Peter Atkinson from England and Shekhar Surve from India. He was assessed under the watchful eyes of three examiners who scrutinised him on his refereeing performance plus questioning on the rules. The examiners have carried out some research and they believe Chris is the youngest Class I Billiards Referee in the world!
A spokesman for the WEBSF Management Team said “Chris is a long term, active member, of the WEBSF Management Team and has recently achieved WEBSF Ambassador status. He has also represented England in the youth Billiards team in the Home Internationals and now joins an elite band of referees of the Billiard world. If that is not enough he is an extremely nice young man. We cannot express how proud we are of Chris’s achievements.”
