WHERE DID THE PRIZE MONEY GO THIS SEASON
With a total of £2,375 has been paid out in prize money this season it’s been a fruitful year for some. Kris Vincent heads the table with £335.

MINING SNOOKER LEAGUE ANNUAL PRESENTATION & EXHIBITION EVENING
100`s ALL ROUND
Pictured above are the officers of the Mining Snooker League with Stephen Lee who have over 100 years service between them. They were all presented with salvers in recognition of their services to the league.

100 Snooker players including family and friends attended the presentation evening which took place at The Redruth Club on Saturday 10th May 2008. This year took a different format of a Snooker Exhibition by Professional and world ranked No 21 Stephen Lee; Stephen played a selection of competition winners and entertained the audience with his potting skills and jovial banter, making a 100 break against Youth Champion Rob Charman. Lee also involved the youngsters by inviting them up in turn to pot the black using his cue which went down extremely well with the crowd. The referees for the evening were Mr. Willie Pollard and Mr. John Pawlyn. Lee signed autographs, merchandise and posed for photographs during the interval while everyone enjoyed a superb buffet provided by the lovely Ethel. A raffle raised over £200 and a frame was auctioned off to play Stephen raised another £55. After the exhibition Stephen presented the trophies and posed for more photographs.

The Chairman Willie Pollard kindly donated youth sporting award trophies for all newcomers under 16: A.Wills, A.Gill, B.Isaacs, A.Johns, C. Mitchell, W.Pellow & B.Broad. Thank you to everyone for their generous support, including the Penventon Park Hotel for kindly providing the accommodation for Stephen Lee and some great raffle prizes; to Staples for donating a printer/copier/scanner; to everyone who helped on the night including Sarah, Shaun, Jamie and Troy Lynes (who also bought Stephen’s waistcoat to help raise money for the Paul Hunter foundation; and especially to Paul Wakeling and the Redruth Club for the use of their excellent facilities.

WEBSF PLAYERS ENGLISH CHAMPIONS
Greg Batten (Tiverton) Mike King (Exeter) and Sam Baird (Halberton) representing Rileys, Exeter have won the EASB English Team Championship beating Durham City Snooker Club (David Lilley, Michael Rhodes & David Craggs) 5-2 in the final at the EASB Finals weekend 17th-18th May at the World Snooker Academy, Sheffield. In frame 1 Batten beat Rhodes aided with a 40 Break from Batten to lead 1-0. Frame 2 sawcBaird lose to Craggs after a Nervy start from both players to level the score at 1-1. King lost frame 3 to Lilley after Lilley needed a snooker with the colours left. Score 1-2. In frame 4 Batten beat Craggs in a flawless frame to draw level at 2-2. Frame 5 Baird beat Lilley, Baird was 43 up with 2 reds left only for Lilley to clear for a re-spotted black which he left over the pocket on an awkward safety shot, score 3-2 in Rileys favour. In frame 6 King beat Rhodes, King was 38 behind with 4 reds left, but eventually won on the pink to extend the lead to 4-2. Frame 7 Batten beat Lilley, Batten was 17 behind but held his nerve to clear with a modest 22 to win 5-2. This is the first time the team from Durham have been beaten. They won this event in 2006 and went on to become the World 3 man team Champions in California. Captain King will now take his team to Belgium, to represent England in the European team Championships in March 2009. King and his team came close to winning the event last year but lost 10-8 to German in the semi final. They also may get a chance to represent England in the world 3 man Championships which maybe held in Russia, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The WEBSF Management Team and Members congratulate them and wish them every success in future finals.

STEPHEN LEE EXHIBITION UPDATE

STEWART REDRUTH BRONZE CHAMPION
Jake Stewart completed a clean sweep by wining the final event in the WEBSF Redruth Bronze Waistcoat series beating Alex Wills in the final. Stewart finished top of the overall rankings with Aiden Johns finishing in overall second place. For more details and report go to Bronze Waistcoat.

WATSON FALMOUTH BRONZE CHAMPION
Daniel Watson rounded off a great season by wining the final event in the WEBSF Falmouth Bronze Waistcoat series beating George Leakey 2-0 in the final. Zac Lawson finish Falmouth runner-up. For more details and report go to Bronze Waistcoat.

BATTEN GOLD WAISTCOAT CHAMPION
Greg Batten finished runner-up to Grant Cole in the final event of this seasons WEBSF Gold Waistcoat Tour but this didn’t stop him from stealing the overall title of WEBSF Gold Waistcoat Champion from ranking table leader Kris Vincent in an exciting climax. This tournament will start again in September 2008 and is open to all those outside the top 96 professionals

STEPHEN LEE EXHIBITIONS
Top professional Stephen Lee from Wiltshire is to play exhibitions in Plymouth and Exeter in May 2008. Lee will play frames of snooker against local opposition.

The Plymouth exhibition is due to take place on Sunday 11th May from 7:00pm is promoted by WEBSF in association with The Victoria Snooker Centre, Plymouth.

PLEDGER PLUNDERS ALL
