WALTERS WALKS AWAY WITH WIN

CORNWALL BOUNCE BACK
Cornwall bounced back after last years defeat in the annual challenge match with Devon when they defeated their rivals by 17-12 in the match held in Cornwall.

REIGNING CHAMP WINS EXETER BRONZE
Adam Gallen won the first Exeter Bronze Waistcoat event of the season with a 2-0 victory over Jay Bullen in the final. The tournament was run using the 6+6 reds format which provided some interesting results in the group matches. WEBSF sponsor Pete James of Baulkline Snooker presented the trophies. EXETER SNOOKER CLUB REFURBISHMENT
With the all too frequent news of snooker tables being dismantled and in some cases clubs closing down it’s good to here of a club undergoing refurbishment and investment. Exeter Snooker Club situated behind the market is one such club.

SIXSIXSN66KER SUCCESS FOR STEWART
Jake Stewart won the first Redruth Bronze tournament event of the season. This was the first 6+6 reds tournament to be trialed by the WEBSF and it has proved a hit with the Redruth players. Stewart defeated Alex Wills in the final. For further details go to Redruth Bronze Waistcoat.

LEGASSICK FIRST TO BENEFIT FROM THE NEW REWARD SCHEME
Daniel Legassick is the first WEBSF member to receive a Coaching Reward Voucher on offer at the WEBSF Victoria Snooker Coaching school.

This scheme is being piloted by a dedicated WEBSF Coaching Team that operates a coaching school most Saturday mornings at the Victoria Snooker Centre, Plymouth.

PINHEY DOUBLES UP

BAIRD REACHES SEMI FINAL OF BUSINESSLAND
Sam Baird (Halberton), does well by reaching the semi-final of the Businessland Under 21 Series event 1 before losing 3-2 to Liam Highfield. Grant Cole and Kris Vincent both from Plymouth also performed well. Cole reaching the Quarter Finals and Vincent posting the second best century of the tournament a fine 107. PURCHASE PHOTO’S ONLINE
Members can now purchase and download photo’s taken at WEBSF tournaments on-line via Snapfish. To enter the site you will require a password. This is obtained by emailing Webpics and proving your identity as a member by quoting your membership number and maybe answering a specific question about yourself. In order to keep the room secure the password will be changed periodically.

NOT JUST A TALENTED SNOOKER PLAYER
Dale Branton it seems has talent beyond the snooker table. WEBSF Tournament Directors where presented with caricatures drawn by Dale at the recent WEBSF Bronze Waistcoat Finals Day in recognition for their hard work. The TD’s where amazed at the accuracy captured by Dale in his sketches. Are there any more members out there with other talents beyond the green baize, contact us and we’ll feature it here. GALLEN 2008 BRONZE CHAMPION
Adam Gallen remained focused throughout a long day to take the title of WEBSF West of England Billiards & Snooker Foundation Regional Bronze Waistcoat Champion 2008. Gallen defeated the 2007 champion Jake Stewart 2-1 in the final. For more details and report go to Bronze Waistcoat.

BAIRD AND BOND STILL THE ‘BUSINESS’
WEBSF players Sam Baird (Halberton) and Darren Bond (Tiverton) continue to set the bar for their peers to aspire too in Event 3 of the Businessland Under 21 series at Pontins. Baird Beat Bond 3-1 in the semi final and then went on to go avenge Bond’s previous defeat at the hands of Stephen Craigie in event 2. Baird wining 3-1 in the final. Darran Lock (Seaton) narrowly lost in the final of the Plate.

GALLEN EXETER BRONZE CHAMPION
Michael Rogers came from one frame down to beat Adam Gallen 2-1 in the final event the Exeter Bronze Waistcoat but it was not enough to prevent Gallen from overtaking Will Blackmore in the ranking table to secure the Exeter WEBSF Bronze Waistcoat Championship. Gallen, Blackmore, Rogers and Matt Baker all qualify for the Regional Finals on the 24th May 2008. For further details and report go to Exeter Bronze Waistcoat.

BATEY TAKES SILVER

WEBSF PLAYERS REACH NATIONAL TEAM FINAL
Mike King (Exeter) Greg Batten (Tiverton) and Sam Baird (Halberton) win their way through to the final of the EASB English Team Championship final to be played later this spring.

The WEBSF Management team and Members wish them the very best of luck in the final.

BATTEN MAKES HIS PLAY FOR GOLD
With three different players wining the first three events, up stepped Greg Batten with a record equalling break to make his play for gold by beating Matt Williams to win the penultimate event of this seasons Gold Waistcoat tournament. COACH REACHES LAST 16
Steve Brookshaw (Plymouth) Billiards and Snooker Coach has reach the last 16 in the English Amateur Billiards Championship. Brookshaw qualified from the South Area. Brookshaw will attempt to finish the job in Derby. All at the WEBSF wish him well.

Update: Steve came up against an in-form Martin Goodwill in his first match…..there’s always next year!

WATSON STRETCHES THE PACK
Daniel Watson opened up a small but telling lead by winning event 2 in the Falmouth Bronze Waistcoat series, Watson beat Adam Lawson in the final. 24 players turned up to play in the tournament at Bells Court Snooker Club, Falmouth. WEBB WINS BRONZE IN FALMOUTH
Bells Court Snooker Club, Falmouth hosted the first in the Falmouth series of WEBSF Bronze Waistcoat Tournaments on Sunday 10th February 2008. This is the latest club to join clubs in Plymouth, Exeter & Redruth who also host Bronze Waistcoat Tournaments in an effort to find the best under 16 snooker player in the West of England.
